Blogs are a popular way to promote a product or service. They're simple to set up, manage, and keep up to date. And search engines adore them as well. But what good is a blog if no one visits it? Yes, exactly. Here are five quick ways to increase blog traffic and start seeing big sales.
1.Make a list of blog services that you want to ping.
You can ping a variety of blog services. This means that you notify this service that your blog has been updated. These services then list your new posts, and you benefit from their traffic. On my website, I've compiled a list of 50+ blog services that you can ping. These lists are also available if you search for them on Google or another search engine. That should be enough to give an initial boost to your traffic.
2.Insert buttons for popular news readers.
What exactly does this mean? There are sites, such as Yahoo, Google, and Bloglines, that have a members area where you can select sites with RSS feeds to get the most recent updates from various blogs. That way, you can have the most recent updates from, say, 50 blogs all on one page. On my website, I have a list of these popular pages, as well as links to them. Users can then add my blog to their news reader members area with ease.
3.Regularly update your content
Regular updates are highly valued by search engines and blog services. If you post on a regular basis, you are very likely to receive targeted traffic from search engines. That means you should make a new post to your blog at least once per day. But be careful. Too many updates per day can harm your search engines position and hits. What’s too many? 10 or more.
4.Participate in forums
Post in forums, but don't overdo it. Put something new and interesting in your signature, and include a link to your blog. Do not simply post in any forum. For example, if you're selling CDs, post in music and CD-related forums. If you're selling furniture, don't post in car forums. By participating in forums, you will gain one-way links that will help you rank higher in search engines such as Google, MSN, and Yahoo.
5.Submit your blog to blog search engines.
There are numerous search engines that only list blogs. Simply searching for blog search engines should yield at least 20 results. These blog search engines will assist you in obtaining targeted traffic. Make sure to give your blog a good title and a good description so that people can easily find it and click on your link.
If you follow these five steps, you will begin to see a significant increase in traffic to your blog. And finally, the long-awaited sales will begin. Also, don't forget to refresh your blog with new, unused content that you've written yourself.
